A payment failed. What happens now?

When a payment fails, Stripe retries it automatically and nothing changes for your church while it does. We email you each time an attempt fails. If the retries run out, your church lapses: every page locks except Billing, and check-in resumes as soon as the next payment succeeds.

What each person sees while it's lapsed

  • You, the Owner, get an email saying your church's subscription has lapsed.
  • Volunteers see a message that access is paused, with your name and a request to contact you.
  • Trusted people, the adults who collect children, see a message that your church isn't taking check-ins right now.

Steps to get access back

  1. Sign in. The app takes you straight to Billing.
  2. Press the button that matches your situation. Resume subscription is for a subscription that's still there to pay on. Subscribe again is for one that was canceled after the retries ran out. Pay outstanding balance is for a canceled subscription with an unpaid invoice.
  3. Update the card and pay in Stripe's portal.
  4. Access returns as soon as Stripe confirms the payment, and check-in works again within seconds.

If you paid an outstanding balance, your church returns to the free tier. Subscribe again from Billing if you need more than the free tier allows.

Troubleshooting

  • The pause is still showing after you paid. Stripe's confirmation can take a few seconds, so refresh the page after a moment.
