Change a volunteer's access

Only your church's Owner can change what a volunteer can do. Press Edit access beside their name on Volunteers, tick the areas they need, and press Save changes.

Steps to change a volunteer's access

  1. Go to Volunteers and press Edit access beside the volunteer, next to Remove.
  2. Tick or untick Manage people, Manage volunteers, Manage rooms, Manage sessions and View reports.
  3. Press Save changes.

The change reaches them the next time they open a page. Hey Burrow doesn't email them, so tell them if you want them to look for something new in the sidebar.

What each area gives them

  • Manage people. Add, edit, import and archive families.
  • Manage volunteers. Invite and remove volunteers. Their invitations carry check-in access only, and they can't remove themselves or the Owner.
  • Manage rooms. Create, edit and archive rooms.
  • Manage sessions. Create, edit and archive sessions.
  • View reports. See attendance and export reports.

Everything else stays with you, whatever you tick: erasing people, the audit log, locations, settings, billing and handing the church to someone else. Access applies to one church, so a volunteer who helps at two churches has separate access at each.

Choosing access when you invite

The Invite a volunteer dialog has the same Access section. Access is fixed once the invitation is sent, so to change it before they accept, press Cancel invitation and invite them again. See Invite a volunteer.

Troubleshooting

  • You can't find Edit access. It shows only for your church's Owner, and only on accepted volunteers. For someone who hasn't accepted yet, cancel and re-invite.
  • A volunteer says the new area isn't there. Ask them to open or refresh a page. The change applies the next time a page loads.
