Trusted people: who can collect a child

A trusted person is any adult your church lets collect a child, usually a parent or caregiver. The first one added for a child is their primary trusted person, and only the primary can add or remove who else is trusted for that family.

How trust works

Trust is set for a whole family. Adding someone as trusted makes them trusted for every child that family's primary is responsible for, now and any added later.

Editing a trusted person's details

Open People, press their row, change what's needed, then press Save changes.

Important

Changing their email cancels any invitation still waiting at the old address and clears their sign-in until they verify the new one, so only change it when you're sure.

If the email you enter already belongs to another adult in your church, or to a pending invitation, saving fails with That email address is already in use. Use a different address, or find the existing record in People.

Saving here also replaces anything the trusted person changed on Your details but hadn't yet confirmed.

Changing the primary

An Owner, or a volunteer with Manage people access, can hand a child's primary over to another adult. See How do I change a child's primary trusted person?.

Troubleshooting

  • You can't find where to edit a trusted person. Editing needs your church's Owner or a volunteer with Manage people access, so ask the Owner to make the change or to give you that access.
  • You changed an email and the invitation you'd sent has disappeared. An invitation waiting at the old address is canceled along with any code already sent to it. Send a new invitation to the new address if you still need to.
