What Hey Burrow is, and how a Sunday works

Hey Burrow is phone-based check-in for a church's children's and youth programs. A trusted person, usually a parent or caregiver, checks children in and out from their own phone, and volunteers run each room from a live dashboard.

How a service runs

  1. Before your first session, an Owner sets up the church's rooms, and its sessions and locations if it needs them. See Understanding Rooms and Open Rooms.
  2. When a session starts, a volunteer opens a room into it. See Open a room.
  3. A trusted person scans the church's printed QR code on their own phone, signs in, and checks their children into a room.
  4. A volunteer watches the room dashboard while it runs: who's checked in, allergies and medical notes, headcounts and birthdays.
  5. At pickup, a trusted person checks the child out, or a volunteer confirms the handover, and the room closes once everyone's gone.

It works the same way for a midweek playgroup or a Friday youth night as it does for a Sunday service.

Who does what

  • An Owner sets up the church's structure and can see and do everything in it.
  • A volunteer runs a room: opening it, watching who's in it, and handling pickups.
  • A trusted person checks their own children in and out from their own phone, without signing in to the church's side of the app.
